Red & Blackk USB connectors - 6022BE USB CRO

The unit comes with a USB cable with a two-headed USB connector, one being BLACK the other RED.

The BLACK seems to be doing the job, what is the RED for?  For additional power?

However, just connecting the BLACK seems good enough.

Please enlighten.

Older computer USB ports were limited in their current output (250mA I think), so the additional RED USB-A connector being connected to an additional port on the same computer will provide another 250mA (but not used for data or communication.  Unfortunately, Hantek documentation does not explain this and may be the reason that some units are returned with the mistaken belief that the unit does not communicate with a computer if they only use the RED connector.
