Customer Consultation

Hi,I am experiencing problems with my oscilloscope. From day one it would sometimes fail to operate. The screen would illuminate and all the menus would appear but no trace and no control over the unit. Switches including the menus would have no effect. I would switch the unit on and off a few times and it would start to operate normally.
Now it will hardly start to operate by switching on and off. It is as if the processor is freezing and has not reset on power on.
Have you any suggestion on how to fix this issue? I have 40 years of experience in Electronics repairing systems down to component changes in surface mount. Failing any suggestions I will easily return the unit.

When the oscilloscope is started, and there is no tracking, please test whether the crystal oscillator has a 100MHz signal output.

I have checked both crystals and they are both running at the same frequency.

Sorry, I missed your question.
"The screen would illuminate and all the menus would appear but no trace and no control over the unit. Switches including the menus would have no effect." Please test the signal of the crystal oscillator again when the oscilloscope has the problem you described.
