I just received a 1008C oscilloscope purchased through Amazon.com. The HT25 pickup does not appear to work. When it is connected to a spark plug wire on a running engine I get intermittent and random negative going spikes, not well defined, positive going secondary discharge waveforms as expected. The waveform is the same negative going random spikes whether the ground is open, connected to the battery negative terminal or the engine block.. Also, reversing the clip on the spark plug wire makes no difference. How can I resolve this issue?

No replies from Hantek? Really? Are you serious? Some product support would be a good thing here, Hantek.

hi,

you cannot use the HT-25 on a spark plug wire, since it picks up secondary voltage coming from the coil itself

use a Hantek HT308 COP HT extension lead

cheers
