DSO5102P Rotary knobs not working

Thank you very much to everyone in this thread.
My Hantek DSO5202P had the same symptom: All rotaries were non-functional.

I opened it up and without even desoldering, checked continuity between rotary casing and each of its pins. Obviously the structural solderings beeped, because they *are* the case.

For exactly one knob, the multi-functional knob, there was a short between the case and all but one of the pins. I desoldered the two diodes (easier than desoldering the rotary knob, especially with the bad soldering iron I had available), and that made all the other knobs work.

Fixing that knob too is a project for another day, but this fixed the oscilloscope enough to make me able to accomplish what I needed today.
