Yes, the protection voltage is 150RMS.
When 120 VAC is input to the oscilloscope, the oscilloscope will not be damaged.
Please restore the oscilloscope to the factory setting to try.

Certainly not 150V. I don't remember exactly either, but I think it was raher about 40V (peak, of course).

EDIT: I checked the manual. You are right, the specs indeed say "input protection voltage 150V RMS."
The 40V or 50V I had in mind are for a different device.

What V/div was set, when you connected the high voltage?
At >= 500mv/div, there is still an internal attenuator directly at the input, prior to the the buffer amp.
At <= 200mV/div, this attenuator is bypassed.
Do you still see horizontal traces on the scope screen, or is the scope completely dead?

Did you measure the 120vac with the DMM or with the scope?
If you did use the scope, did you set the ...

I used the scope, measured using the x1 not x10.

edit: i can't access the datasheet but I think i remember the max v input was 150V. This must be peak? Everything else works fine and i didn't smell smoke so maybe there's a limit somewhere i can replace?

Thanks.

If you did use the scope, did you set the switch on the probe to x1 or x10 position?
