I work as the tech for a company here in the US. A customer sent back a unit after he bricked his after trying to hack it. I dumped the ROM from a new unit and reflashed the older one, but now it doesn't read correctly. Depending on the day, it can be off by +/- 5 Ohms, or 1/1000 factor.
I've also got a second unit where the person sent it back due to the resistance setting not being accurate. I replaced the CS7721CN, and now it's decently accurate, but the calibration is wrong. It's close, but not nearly as accurate as a brand new model.
I saw some of the data in the ROM, but without spending a bunch of time to reverse it, I thought it would be easier to ask. I imagine there is a simple setting that allows the factory to set these on test. If someone could assist me with that program, or procedure that would be great.
To a second point. It's extremely common for companies to calibrate electronics here in the USA, and eventually someone will need to know this. I contacted our vendor contact but haven't heard anything back yet.
