I put a 9 volt battery across the scope leads and it reads somewhere around a couple hundred mv. I can see Waveforms but the voltage readings are so far off I can't possibly use this scope to diagnose anything. Plus the scope randomly shuts off when hooked up to the PC. Did you checked your probe attenuation and Volt/div scale settings? Which coupling mode are you using? If you set the input coupling to AC, obviously the oscilloscope wont' be able to read a DC signal, that is the whole point of this setting.
