hantek 1008A
Customer Consultationwe just bought your 1008a and began to use it. on my first test i need to measure a 2 wire abs wheel speed sensor which outputs an a/c analogic signal. i found and red the manual for the scope and i am supposed to be able to put the coupling in a/c but i cant!! the box for choosing the a/c, d/c signal remains dark and i cant choose a/c et make my test.

Hantek1008A doesn't have AC coupling.
How can this scope measure VR signals which are AC +/- sine wave, it has listed in the menu an AC (Reluctor) excited crank & cam sensor in the software which indicated that it can read such signals.?????.
Of course the scope can measure AC signals. I agree that the lack o AC coupling is a ridiculous limitation in some of the Hantek's oscilloscopes but AC coupling and ability to read AC signals are not the same thing. Still, people get confused with it all the time. I would recommend this technical note from Keysight about this subject: https://blogs.keysight.com/blogs/tech/bench.entry.html/2018/10/18/when_to_use_ac_coupl-X0K7.html
If your scope don't have the in built AC coupling option and you do need to remove the DC offset of a signal in order to analyze it, simple put a capacitor (something around 100nF/400V polyester film capacitor should works in most cases) in series with your probe.

Thank you for the clear info, this now makes sense.
